The electric planer is the focal point of hand shaping surfboards. For me, my Skil 100 (passed on to me by my father) is my most important tool. It makes my shaping quick and efficient and is a key aspect in telling the story of my family and our connection to surfing and the surfboard industry.

In December 2021 I packed my Skil 100 in my suitcase and began traveling between California and Europe to produce boards for local markets as well as for Japan. The hashtag #haveplanerwilltravel was born. Since December 2021 I have completed four shaping stints in California and have traveled three times to Portugal, spent all of October in France and have made seven trips to Italy. New destinations are currently in planning.
